After the Revolutionary War ended, America found itself as a new country, with new freedoms, new challenges and a new President.  One of George Washington’s first acts as President was to travel to and tour Long Island and thank those who had helped in the defeat of the British. The history of Washington’s tour is part of the cultural and historical fabric of our Island.
